Positive Effort And Initiatives By Thai Government To Address The Declining Rubber Prices

IRCo would like to congratulate the Thai Government for taking measures to address the declining rubber prices. The initiatives have slightly reversed the price trend where just within a few days the price reversing from Baht 41.70/kg for RSS3 at the Songkhla Central Rubber Market on 12 January 2016 to Baht 44.70/kg on 14 January 2016.

 

The much talked about Rubberized Road Project will be implemented in Thailand where the Government has instructed relevant Ministries to utilize 10,000 tonnes rubber for highways and 10,000 tonnes for state roads and the projects to be implemented immediately in 2016. Indonesia and Malaysia which are the other two members of the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) are invited to seriously consider similar implementation to support Thailand initiatives.

 

Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) organized a two-day workshop to highlight the technologies, specifications and procedures to accelerate acceptance of the technologies among the natural rubber producing countries.

 

From 19 to 22 January 2016, ITRC/IRCo will be having meetings to detail out the action plans to be taken based on the Ministers decisions on 3 December 2015 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

The three countries are committed to take actions to positively support/improve the price trends for the benefits and wellbeing of rubber smallholders.
