Four Southern provinces of Thailand have been experiencing severe flooding due to heavy rains. The major provinces are Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phattalung, Songkhla and nearby areas, covering around 0.8 million hectares of natural rubber (NR) plantation.
Heavy flood has been disrupting tapping activities in those provinces as the rubber farmers couldn’t tap rubber trees as parts of the trees were submerged in the water. This would affect NR production in this region in the coming weeks. The reduction in NR production from these areas around 100,000 MT. could affect to the NR shipment of Thai exporters.
